But I Haven’t Got a Stitch to Wear….

What was your excuse for missing the event of the season?  Just kidding!  We had a fantastic turn out for our last dance party on Friday, June 19th.  We all got sweaty dancing to a playlist of songs from one artist: Morrissey.  Since several of our regular dancers are all excited to see Morrissey in concert at the Akron Civic Theatre on June 29th–we planned a special dance party to express our loyalty and devotion.  I wasn’t the only one on the dance floor singing along to every lyric!  What’s your favorite Morrissey or The Smiths dance tune?

When do we dance next?  Good question.  You can join us to dance on Friday July 3rd, at 8pm at Martell’s as usual.  Show your patriotism on the dance floor.  It’s the American thing to do.  See you on the dance floor!

Rock of Ages #3

Our first dance party of this month, last Friday June 5th, was another Rock of Ages challenge.  What is a Rock of Ages playlist?  It’s a collection of danceable hits arranged in sequential order, comprised of songs from every decade since the 1950s.  The added bonus: making sure each of the songs in the playlist are new ones to our song database.  DJ/DC rose to the occasion with his rockin’ setlist which filled an hour’s worth of foot-tappin’ activity with three songs from the 1950s, three songs from the 60s, two from the 70s, three from the 80s, two from the 90s, two from the 00s, and three from the current decade.  Check out DJ/DC’s complete playlist below:

What contemporary song would you include on your Rock of Ages challenge?

If you accepted the Rock of Ages challenge, what songs would you include?  Even if you’re not up for the challenge, we hope you’ll join us to dance this summer.  Not only is it good exercise but dancing is also a fun way to kick off the weekend.  We dance again on Friday, June 19th, 8pm at Martell’s School of Dance in  Highland Square.  The next playlist will a be one saturated with hits from The Smiths and Morrissey–who is coming to perform at Akron’s own Civic Theatre at the end of the month.  This is our own version of a concert psyche-up.  Come and join the fun!  See you on the dance floor!
