Event #46–Anniversary Celebration

Brigitte Bardot (see DJ Bulee’s music mix)

Friday, February 18th we celebrated our two year anniversary of Akron’s Dance Dance Party Party.  If you were there, you already know we had a wonderful music mix courtesy of DJ Bulee (see mix list below) and a good turn out of dancers–some regulars and some newer participants.  After the dance, we went next door to the restaurant, Mary Coyle’s, for ice cream and soda pop. (Okay, I was the only one who ordered pop!)

DDPP anthem:  Reel 2 Real’s “I Like to Move It”

Thanks again to DJ Bulee for her enthusiastic mix that kept us all hoppin’ on the dance floor.  Our next event will be Friday March 4th at 7:30 pm (remember–we meet every first and third Friday of each month).

***Mark your calendars for a special event called Funky Fresh Spring Fling presented by Akron’s DDPP coming Friday April 1st:  we’re having a special mix of early 1990s Hip Hop music to run from 7:30-9pm.  Bring a friend for free!  It will feel like you’re watching “Beverly Hills 90210” for the first time!  This will be the social event of the season–and bring that friend that has always wanted to come too.

Take It to the Church

Last Friday, February 4th, DJ PK inspired the dance floor to move to the rhythms from a higher calling.  This music mix wasn’t just DJ PK’s first, it is also a lyrically themed mix drawing upon the spiritual realm.  As you can tell from the titles of the songs from the mix, there was thought and purpose behind each selection–one that also brought funk, jazz, R&B and hip-hop delights to our ears.

Jazzistics’ “Personal Jesus”–a cool jazz arrangement of the classic Depeche Mode song. Tres magnifique!

Don’t forget:  our next get together for dancing is Friday, February 18th at 7:30 pm in Highland Square’s Martell’s Studio in Akron.  We meet every first and third Friday of the month (and fifth Friday when the calendar creates one!)
