It was a little weird dancing to this holiday themed mix (12/6) without our resident pop culture Christmas expert, but DJ Prisoner not only produced the most dancing-est Christmas mix ever, she also left us with these tidbits of holiday trivia about the playlist:
–“Extraordinary Merry Christmas” is an original song written for the 2011 Christmas episode of Glee.
–“Toy Jackpot” and “Electronic Santa Claus” were both songs commissioned by Target for holiday TV commercials used in 2011/2012.
–Justin Bieber’s “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” borrows the bass line from a Jackson 5 song–and appears in the closing credits of the animated movie Arthur Christmas.

While DJ Prisoner was making us proud and talking about her craft to all the media outlets we were enjoying making up words to these songs which were mostly new to us…it does sound like he is saying ‘Chocolate’ Santa Claus after all!

Remember this lap dance scene from Death Proof?

On the day after Thanksgiving, Friday Nov. 29th, we held our latest dance party.  Those in attendance won’t soon forget the experience–we danced to a playlist culled from the soundtracks of movies directed by Quentin Tarantino.  Yup.  It was an explosion of high-energy music from some of the most unforgettable scenes in cinema history.

Uma Thurman and John Travolta hit the dance floor in Pulp Fiction.

There was at least one song from each of the movies Tarantino has directed–and the songs were arranged in chronological order of the movies’ release.  So we started dancing to songs from Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, then Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Death Proof, Inglorious Basterds, and finished with hits from Django Unchained.   Which songs from Tarantino’s movies would you have selected for a dance playlist?  To be fair, Tarantino’s first several movie soundtracks consist of curated compilations–so creating this dance playlist wasn’t too hard.  This is what the den mother pulled together:

Pay attention–because our NEXT dance party is this upcoming week–Friday, Dec. 6th at 8pm.  You don’t want to miss this one either–it’s going to be a spirited event.  The playlist is holiday music especially selected to put you in the mood to DANCE!  See everyone on the dance floor.
