Summer Lovin’, Had Me a Blast!

I love dancing in the summer on Friday nights!  I find it a great way to literally shake off the stresses from the previous weekdays and begin the fun of the weekend.  It’s even more enjoyable when the music mix is by grrrilla beats, a regular deejay at DDPP-Akron.  She knows how to bring the beats.  This last dance party on Friday June 15th, grrrilla beats’ playlist focused on 1990s favorites.  Everybody there was movin’ it on the dance floor.  Check out the playlist:

Laura Branigan’s “Self Control” was another song we danced to last week.  It’s been stuck in my head ever since!

Our next dance party is the fifth Friday in June–and YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS?  Fifth Friday dance parties are single artist music mixes where the dancers choose the songs!  Our single artist for Friday June 29th? Prince.  We’ll see you there, right?  You don’t want to miss out on this night which promises to be ah-mazing!  Come to Martell’s on Friday June 29th at 7:30pm to join in on the fun!  Let’s go crazy.

For Whom the Funk Tolls

DJ DC rocked the house last Friday, June 1st, with a playlist he entitled “For Whom the Funk Tolls.”  It was as funky as he promised!  Thanks again to DJ DC and all our volunteer deejays who provide us with the soundtracks to our Friday night dance-taculars.  Is that even a word?  It is NOW!  Check out DJ DC’s music mix:

If DDPP-Akron were to embrace a theme song, my vote goes to the Whodini classic “Freaks Come Out at Night.”  I made that off-hand comment to DJ DC a couple of years ago and he remembered it!?  I know he remembered it because he put it in his playlist for last Friday’s dance party.  How funny is that?  What would be your suggestion for a DDPP-Akron theme song?

“But then again, you could know someone all their life, But might not know they’re a freak unless you see them at night.” –Whodini

Our next dance party is Friday, June 15th , 7:30pm at Martell’s in Akron’s Highland Square.  Mark your calendars!  I think it’s going to be a great playlist–I’m hoping for a little Diamond love!
