Oh Girl!

kelsie_dancing-doneLittle girls, music, and dancing are great together and DDPP is super thankful to have all three in surplus. How can we not be? Within a week we had one dancer give birth to a baby girl and another (this week’s DJ) learn that she is carrying a baby girl. This is the best news because it means we have gained two more DDPPers!

DJ Swizzle wanted to celebrate her good news by creating a mix (10/18) that celebrates all things girl/baby/lady/mama. As you can see, she covered all the best themes, giving us several songs to shake-what-our-mama-gave-us and several more to remind us how powerful and beautiful we are/will be.

Plus, new ear worm:

Next DJ up – DJ Bulee! She’ll be helping us celebrate all the beauty that is ‘Friday’, that most longed for day of the week. See you dancers Friday, 11/1!

How Young Are You, How Old Am I?

As the cooler temperatures return and the darkened dance floor comes earlier and earlier each evening, Autumn is embraced by the DDPP dancers.  Such was the mood last Friday, Oct. 4th, 2013 for our latest dance party.

Though the air temperature was cooler, the dance floor was HAWT–thanks to DJ Steez.  She dropped the big beats of old and new hits that fit a “new song” theme.

As our calendars fill up with Halloween parties and events, don’t forget to prioritize our next dance party!  We’ll be dancing next on Friday, October 18th, 8pm at Martell’s School of Dance.  Shake off a few calories–and then allow yourself to indulge in some extra treat-or-treat goodies the following week.  At least, that’s what I’ll be doing!  See you on the dance floor!

Hit me with your ONE best shot!

Sometimes all you get is that one shot, that one chance to leave an impression, to make your mark. So make the most of it, right? Maybe you’ll leave behind a great piece of art or maybe, like House of Pain,  you’ll leave behind the lyrics:

I came to get down [2x]
So get out your seats and jump around
Jump around [3x]
Jump up Jump up and get down.
Jump [18x]

Either way, DDPP and DJ Sassy Pants celebrates you! I mean, they made it on to a super DDPP playlist and on to The Simpson’s – what more can they ask for?

This playlist (9/20) was really fun, all of the songs were ones we know and love. Even if we never heard from the artists again, they had an effect on us – they made us Jump Around, Shake that Rump and Bust a Move!

Join us this coming Friday for ‘It’s New to Me’ presented by DJ Steez – October 4th!

C’est si bon!

It sure is good! Especially when you live in an awesome city like ours with all of these awesome lady dancers and all of the hipness they bring to DDPP! DJ Stardust’s mix (9/6) truly was a feel good experience, literally something for everyone and nothing that was for no one:)

A true ambassador of all things amazing, DJ Stardust brought the cool quotient up to 11. You see, on top of everything else, she has a rather famous relative whom we were lucky enough to be able to hear on the dance floor – how many can say that?? Check it out and let the coolness make your day ‘bon’.

Our next events are 9/20 – ‘One Hit Wonders’ with DJ Sassy Pants, and 10/4 – ‘It’s New to Me’ with DJ Steez! In recognition of all the one hit wonders that are great dance songs, I present Little Eva:
