Boys Night In

Cyd Charisse in the fantasy sequence from the 1952 movie ‘Singing in the Rain.’

Don’t worry, things haven’t changed!  Women are still the only persons invited to our dance events–but this past week’s fantastic music mix came to us courtesy of a member of the male gender, DJ Harvey.  He provided a musical accompaniment that featured several different styles and rhythms to challenge everyone in the room.  He’s a devilish egg, that one!  🙂  Thanks again to DJ Harvey for a hot January frolic.

PLEASE NOTE: the next DDPP event, Friday February 4th at 7:30 pm will NOT feature Cyndi Lauper’s “She Bop” again.  I promise.  Don’t make me a liar.

Naughty Ladies Mix

The first DDPP of 2011 (January 7th) was a fine start to what we expect to be an exciting year for dancing.  Following close to the theme from the previous mix, DJ Steez arranged a new playlist she described as not just for strong women, but for naughty ladies as well.  From Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” to Cyndi Lauper’s “She Bop” to Prince’s “Little Red Corvette,”  I think we get it.  That’s what rock n’ roll celebrates–the rebellious, the cool, the sexy and the ones with attitude.  And there was plenty of attitude on the dance floor last Friday.

If you still haven’t joined us or it’s been a while since you last dropped by, these winter months are a GREAT time to start attending DDPP.  That one hour of dance is a fun way to be active and to socialize.  So grab a girl friend and come to the next DDPP:  Friday, January 21st at 7:30 pm.  See ya then 🙂

Thanks again to DJ Steez for her fun and enjoyable playlist.  Be sure to check out the Song Database on the DDPP blog if you are looking to see what other songs have played in the recent past.
