African Music Dance Party

Last Friday, April 17th, we experienced a special treat.  DJ Bulee brought us an hour’s worth of music from the continent to our east–Africa.  Our dancers got to spin, gyrate, and kick up the heels to rhythms and instrumentation that for many of us is unfamiliar.  DJ Bulee has a fiancé that is schooled in music and her audio influences on our dancers are always much appreciated!  Many dancers channeled their inner-hippie with a free flowing spirit of movement and joy that the West may not fully appreciate.  The studio was filled with dancing bliss.

Muchas gracias to DJ Bulee for providing us with our music for the week.  Check out her complete playlist below:

Sorry that you missed our last dance party?  Don’t weep: we dance again on Friday May 1st, 8pm at Martell’s Studio in Highland Square.  Pay special attention–we have three dance parties in May.  We dance on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Friday of each month so, in May we’ll gather on May 1st, May 15th and again on May 29th.  You know what a 5th Friday means, right?  We’re dancing to a movie soundtrack.  Next up–we’ll dance to the music found in Beverly Hills Cop.  Another 80s movie soundtrack extravaganza!  See you on the dance floor.
