Geeking Out with Dungeons & Dancin’

DJ Dewey Dancimal provided us a musical treat at our last dance party on Friday, August 1st.  As a way to lengthen the summer fun of Geekfest held at the library the week before, DJ Dewey Dancimal created a playlist for everyone’s inner geek!  Whether you nerd out over sci-fi, literature, science, or math, there was a danceable track selected just for you.  Check out her complete playlist below–or listen to it HERE by means of Spotify.

Thanks DJ Dewey Dancimal.  Do YOU, dear Reader, have an hour’s worth of danceable music in your collection?  Why not turn that playlist into an evening’s entertainment for DDPP-Akron?   Let Joanna or Juniper know about it after any dance party, and we’ll add you to the schedule of deejays.

When is our next dance party?  Remember we dance every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Friday of every month.  Checking the calendar, that means we dance again on Friday August 15th, 8pm.  Rumor has it–we have an out-of-town guest deejay with a special mix to highlight the Gay Games which are in our own backyards this week!  Come and join the fun–and don’t be late!  We only dance for 1 hour.

This month is special for another reason too.  August includes a 5th Friday and you know what that means–we dance to a movie soundtrack.  Friday, August 29th, we’ll be rockin’ out to the cool 70s sounds from the 2013 critically acclaimed film American Hustle.   Think Steely Dan, Santana, Elton John, Electric Light Orchestra, Supertramp, and Todd Rundgren.   Maybe even a little disco.  Forget your troubles–or a little thing called Abscam–and put your boogie shoes on.  See you on the dance floor!
