International Dance Party!

Last Friday, November 15th, we were rockin’ the big beats of club music like we were in Ibiza.  DJ Lizabot created a playlist around the theme of Music from Around the World which became an international spectacle for everyone in attendance.   We popped-and-locked it to club hits from French electronic music makers Daft Punk to Irish punks Flogging Molly to Swedish DJ Avicii to South Korean pop star Psy to New Zealand’s Lorde to the theme song for the World Cup by Colombia’s Shakira with the South African band Freshlyground.  As if that’s not enough, we also shook it loose to a wide variety of Latino musicians and Latin music-inspired rhythms–a DDPP favorite.  I’m so impressed with the diversity and big beats that we all enjoyed at our last dance party!  I’m even more impressed because it was this deejay’s first time stepping forward with a playlist.  Hopefully, we can convince her to volunteer again–and soon 😀  Check out her complete playlist below:

If November is a time you count your blessings, then add a 5th Friday to your list!  This month offers us another opportunity to dance–on Friday, November 29th.  Yes, THAT IS the day after Thanksgiving.  If you’re anything like me, you’ll be looking forward to burning calories!  Got family in town?  BRING THEM ALONG!  Invite your granny, your mother, your aunts, cousins, and sisters to this 5th Friday event.  And like all 5th Fridays in 2013–we will be dancing to a movie soundtrack.  On Nov. 29th, we’ll be dancing to an eclectic collection of pop hits and music from the soundtracks of movies directed by Quentin Tarantino.  Remember the cool music from RESERVOIR DOGS, PULP FICTION, JACKIE BROWN, and the KILL BILLs?  Now’s your chance to enjoy them again–on the dance floor!

See you on the dance floor: Friday Nov. 29th, 8pm at Martell’s School of Dance in Highland Square.  And join me in giving thanks for another fun dance party.
