Say My Name!

Four-tops-bernadette

As a mix that had ‘names’ as the theme this was everything we’d hoped it would be – it was danceable, it was singable, it was memorable! This night held many gems but to point out just one, I am a huge fan of the song Bernadette. I don’t think the name is a particularly pretty one (it is the feminine of Bernard after all) but this song makes me wish it was my name. Such longing and yearning is hard to resist. I don’t know if I danced to this so much as I was physically pleading ‘his’ case – ‘Keep on needing me, Bernadette!’

You Can Call Me Al – Paul Simon

Barbara Ann – The Beach Boys
A Message to You Rudy – The Specials
Veronica – Elvis Costello
Lovely Rita – The Beatles
Jimmy Mack – Labelle & Laura Nyro
Jolene – Dolly Parton
Valerie – Mark Ronson/Amy Winehouse
Along Comes Mary  -The Association

Sister Liz delivered this perfect playlist without actually being able to dance to it (4/19) – darn that sickness that was going around! Her whole family was affected which meant we were down THREE dancers, thank goodness for some new ladies joining us, their enthusiasm helped save the day.

If you want to put yourself in the mood we were in on that Friday, try out this video, it is bouncy and infectious like the Boys and Girls playlist itself:
